The causal mind: An affordance-based account of causal engagement

چکیده
Causal cognition is a core aspect of how we deal with the world; however, existing psychological theories tend not to target intuitive causal engagement that done in daily life. To fill this gap, propose an Ecological-Enactive (E-E) affordance-based account situated engagement, is, judgments and perceptions. Spread Mind and Causal Theories of Content
In this paper, I analyze a type of externalist enactivism defended by Riccardo Manzotti. Such radical versions of enactivism are gaining more attention, especially in cognitive science and cognitive robotics. They are radical in that their notion of representation is purely referential, and content is conflated with reference. Manzotti follows in the footsteps of early causal theories of refere...

Heuristic Based Extraction of Causal Relations from Annotated Causal Cue Phrases By Matthew J. Hausknecht This work focuses on the detection and extraction of Causal Relations from open domain text starting with annotated Causal Cue Phrases (CCPs). It is argued that the problem of causality extraction should be decomposed into two distinct subtasks. First, it is necessary to identify Causal Cue...
متن کاملMind the Gap: Dispositional Agency Facilitates Toddlers' Causal Representations
Toddlers readily learn predictive relations between events (A predicts B); however, they intervene on A to cause B in few contexts (e.g., when an agent initiates the event.) The current studies look at whether toddlers’ failures are due to the difficulty of initiating interventions or to constraints on the events they causally represent. Toddlers saw a block slide towards a base, but an occlude...
متن کاملA Discourse Processing Account of Gapping and Causal Implicature
Levin and Prince (1982) note that gapped sentences do not give rise to causal implicatures often associated with their nongapped counterparts. For instance, while (a) can have both a symmetric and asymmetric (causal) reading, the gapped version in (b) can only have the symmetric reading. (a) Sue became upset and Nan became downright angry. (b) Sue became upset and Nan ; downright angry. We show...
